This picture was taken a few years ago with what I now call my educational camera. A Nikon D40. I was chatting with a friend on the phone, and chasing this butterfly around a milk weed. It wasn’t until later as I viewed the pictures that I noticed that she was laying eggs. I had the fortunate pleasure to capture the entire process. The hatching of the caterpillars, as they feasted on the milkweeds, the formation of the chrysalis, the hatching of the beautiful Monarch Butterflies and as they flew away. It was a time of great changes in my own life…so for me… this was very precious to witness.

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
